All testing materials will be furnished. Just bring a government-issued photo ID and if you need to pay, a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) or a check payable to "American Mensa" for the $60 test fee. ($30 in October, as it is half price!)
You can also buy a test voucher online in advance at https://www.us.mensa.org/join/testing/
At the link, plug in your zipcode and click on "Search for Sessions" and our testing session should pop up. Answer the two queries "Hearing about Mensa" and "How Soon"...then press Next. You should be directed to the shopping cart, which is pre-populated with one "Local Group Mensa Admission Testing" for $30. Check-out and pay. You will receive a form you should print out and bring to the test session.
If you are under 18 years of age on the day of the test, you need a signed parental consent form. (Email me for a form.) We cannot test anyone under 14 years of age on the day of the test, with or without a consent form.
Columbia River Mensa is offering a rebate to potential new members. If you test, qualify for membership, and become a member of our chapter, we will reimburse your testing fee.
If you live outside the Tri-Cities area and find it difficult to come to Kennewick for a test session, I will come to you if you can help me secure a test venue and can promise at least one person will show up. Also, if you are interested in testing, but can't make it Saturday Oct. 24, contact me and we will work to accommodate your schedule.
Don’t take the test if your sole interest is in getting an assessment of your IQ score. Admission to Mensa is based on a score in the upper two percent of any of the standardized tests Mensa accepts. The notice you receive from Mensa once your tests have been scored will contain either an invitation to join Mensa, or that you didn’t qualify on the basis of your test score. It will not include the IQ score calculated from your test score. For this, you will need the services of a professional psychologist.
You can also qualify for Mensa membership by submitting “prior evidence.” This is an official report of a qualifying test, sent to American Mensa. More information on this at https://www.us.mensa.org/join/testscores/.

The only qualification for Mensa membership is a score in the top 2% of the general population on a standardized intelligence test. Scores are accepted by one of two means:
American Mensa accepts scores from approximately 200 different standardized intelligence tests. If you have already taken such a test, you can submit the scores of that test to qualify.
If you haven't taken an intelligence test or cannot locate your prior testing scores, you can take the Mensa Admissions Test, administered by a certified Mensa proctor. This battery of two tests is offered at the local level several times per year.
